De-stress test: Bi-Aura therapy

Fiona Leith

What is it?

A form of eastern medicine, which works on the belief that, to attain true well-being, we need to look after our aura and energies. There are energy flows in the body, and each energy point (or shakra) represents a part of your life; work, personal fulfilment or relationships. Bi-Aura is designed to deal with these.

How does it work?

The introduction to the session is very much like it is for any other type of massage. I sat down with Zoë, the masseuse, and gave some personal details. That’s when it all changed. There was no massage table and the only clothing I had to take off was my shoes. The lights dimmed and I closed my eyes. Zoë was "warming up my energies to get them working".

How did you feel?

The effect was incredible. I became aware of a swaying sensation but was assured that I wasn’t actually moving - it was the energy being pulled. I then felt intense heat in specific areas of my body - where I was being "massaged". The only actual physical contact was when I was touched once on the back of my head and down both arms. As Zoë cupped my left hand I began to feel hot and clammy, and by the time she got to my right I thought I was going to be sick. Suddenly, as she cupped my right hand, I felt an enormous rush to my head, which blacked my vision for a few seconds, and I wasn’t sure if I was going to pass out or vomit. I lost my balance and sat down.

What had happened?

I had had a tremendous energy release in my head, she said, which had been pulled out of my hands. I was told what this signified in relation to two specific areas of my life, and it was spot on.

And the treatment itself?

The only physical effect was the head rush. Mentally, however, I was overwhelmed and a bit unnerved - in a positive way. Reactions differ, and some people just feel a sense of calm.

What’s the damage?

£60 for a one-hour session.
